Three iPhone screens with demo data, showing last month's spending, its split by category, and a payment being logged.

A private personal-finance app for the Mac and iPhone. It imports bank exports, sorts transactions and explains every decision. No account, no cloud service, no sync server.

Why I started

Most budgeting apps want a copy of your financial life on their servers. I wanted to understand my own spending with the data staying on my machines, in a document I own.

What it does

  • Imports CSV and Excel exports from banks, with a preview of exactly what will change and duplicates flagged. Nothing is written until you confirm.
  • Sorts transactions by working through your rules, known merchants and your past choices, and leaves anything uncertain for you to review rather than guessing.
  • Shows who made every automatic decision, and Explain This Category gives the reasoning.
  • Finds recurring commitments, unusual expenses, refunds and transfers between your own accounts.
  • An iPhone app opens the same document from iCloud Drive. It has widgets and Face ID, and can log a payment from Apple Pay or a photo of a receipt.

Approach

A native Mac app built around a single local document, which is a plain SQLite database you can read with any tool. AI classification is optional and off by default. Its suggestions stay in review until you agree with them.
